Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the DiveWatch app for Wear OS smartwatches (“DiveWatch” or “the app”) handles your information. DiveWatch is published by Avelar Sangiorge.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Avelar Sangiorge (Felipe Sangiorge). For any privacy question or request, contact us at felipe@avelarsangiorge.pt.
2. Summary
- DiveWatch does not collect or share any user data with us or with third parties, as declared in the Google Play Data safety section.
- All dive and health data is processed and stored exclusively on your device (smartwatch/smartphone). We do not store this data on our servers.
- The app does not show ads.
3. Data processed on your device
To work, the app uses your watch’s sensors and creates the following data, which stays on your device:
- Depth (current and maximum), calculated from the watch’s pressure (hPa) sensor.
- Dive time (time underwater).
- Heart rate.
- Skin temperature, on supported devices (Galaxy Watch 5 or later).
- Dive logs: the saved record of your dives with the values above and their date and time.
This data is used only to show you your dive in real time and to let you review your saved dive logs. We do not receive, access or sell it.
4. Samsung Health
On supported Samsung devices, DiveWatch supports Samsung Health for skin temperature measurement. Any data handled by Samsung Health is governed by Samsung’s own privacy policy. You can manage the permissions granted to DiveWatch at any time in your device or Samsung Health settings.
5. Device permissions
The app asks for the permissions needed to read the sensors described above (for example body sensors). You can refuse or revoke them in your device settings; some features will then not work.
6. Sharing
We do not share your data with other companies or organisations. Because we do not hold your data, we cannot disclose it.
7. Google Play
DiveWatch is distributed through Google Play. Google processes information about your download and purchase under its own privacy policy. We may receive aggregated, non-identifying statistics from Google Play Console (for example number of installs or crash reports provided by Google).
8. Data retention and deletion
We retain your personal and health-related data (such as dive logs, depth, heart rate and skin temperature) only for as long as necessary to provide our services to you.
All your dive and health data is stored exclusively on your device (smartwatch/smartphone). We do not store this data on our servers. You can delete your data at any time by uninstalling the application or clearing the app data in your device settings. If you have any question about deletion, write to felipe@avelarsangiorge.pt and we will help you.
9. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because the app’s data stays on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app or your device settings. For any request, contact felipe@avelarsangiorge.pt. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD; in Spain, the AEPD).
10. Children
DiveWatch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Security
Your data is protected by the security of your own device. We recommend keeping your device locked and up to date.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with a new effective date.
